Project Brief

Enable individuals, companies and organizations to involve people into action and firsthand experiences in a measurable and collective fashion

The Team

The team started with: A Software Architect & CoFounder and me as Product/UX Designer & CoFounder.

My Role

I was responsible for creating the product strategy for Yupmob. Plan and execute the user and market research effort. Define the brand identity and vision. Define the Product Design strategy for the company and drive the overall design process (analysis, ideation, prototyping design and user testing). Architect and implement a Design System that can help the company solve problems and bring sharp consistency across multiple products in the organization. Build and manage the design team (experience design, design operations, user researcher, content strategy). Implement culture and principles within the group by inspiring, motivating, and coaching designers. Prioritize and drive product feature backlog.

Research

I planned and conducted the user and market research strategy. Qualitative and quantitave data was gathered through surveys and interviews to potentials users around the world.

Through our research we identified that users use different social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc. to create challenges. These platforms offer various analytics tools, but due to the nature of challenges, those analytics fall short in discovering the real involvement and action of the intended audience and the actual impact the challenge is creating for it’s purpose.

Companies also create challenges with the main abstract purpose of bringing employees/internal teams together towards a goal. For example, health challenges to encourage employees to adopt healthier habits, climate change challenges to motivate employees to adopt climate friendly habits, etc.

Product Blueprint

Research

Before building start building the MPV we conducted an initial set of interviews with potential users and ranked their engagement: Whether the problem we are trying to solve is really important to them, if they are currently trying to solve this issue with other services or self-made solutions, if they are interested enough to agree to future user interviews once initial prototypes are created, if they agree to refer other people to you if they would pay for the solution right away if available.

We discovered that not only individuals currently organize challenges for multiple reasons such as exercising, having fun, creating something, etc. companies and organizations are also currently organizing challenges or collective activities such as climate change actions, health weeks, etc.
